Water

           WATER a colourless ,transparent, odourless liquid a combination of Oxygen and Hydrogen-           This is what Oxford dictionary denotes.
It is one of the five elements. Quenches thirst, cleanse body. Few believe it even purifiesthe soul by washing
away the sins of humanbeing. It is holy for the most of the people in the world. Hindus while bathing chant the
' manthra' taking the names of the sacred rivers of India- " Gangecha, Yamunechaiva , Sraswathi, Narmada, Sindhu,Cauvery Jalesmin Sannidhi Kuru ". After death the ashes of of Hindus are immersed in rivers- believing that their soul will reach the heavenly abode.


In Hindu temples water sprinkeled on heads and given as theertha to drink to purify the soul of human beings.Similarly water is sprinkeled on heads in churches. One cannot enter Mosque without washing feet and hands.Water is so pure, that it not only cleanses the body but also purifies the soul.


It is used in cooking, washing body, cloths and washing anything and everything. At home , Industries, Offices, Hotels,Restaurants, -name the place you need it there. You cannot imagine a place where it is not required.


Three fourth of the earth is covered with water. Human body consists of seventy percent water. But still water is scarce.Hence sea water is desalianated, so that it can be consumed. Even sewage water is recycled. Rain water harvesting is becoming popular to preserve water. Now you know the water is precious. But we spend it like water !


Water has history. Man became civilezed on the river banks-Greek civilization on the Mediterrananean river, Aryan civilization on the Sindhu river, Egyptian civilization on the Nile river, Mesoptamia civilization on Euphrates and Tigris river. The water which was the cause for human being to become civilized will make him brutal again that too for it's sake.


Few years ago there was a World Water Conference held at Sri Lanka. The intelectuals and experts all over the world have submitted papers on various
subject on water. One of the papers submitted in the conference mention the wars would be fought for water in future and that would be the worst war
world would have seen.


If that is true-would water become more precious than human blood ? ! Will we commit sin in the name f water -the purifier of all souls. Or will we justify that water will wash away all blood which would be shed for water !
